Rashee Rice Aims To Shed Training Wheels Sunday
2 years ago

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is averaging 0.60 fantasy points per route run on the strength of the eighth-most yards after catch (249) in his rookie season. It also insinuates that the Chiefs have yet to expand on his route tree, however, as Rice's limited role (53.9% slot snap rate) has left him with a mere two deep targets this year. The 23-year-old may need to rack up more YAC when he takes on a Miami Dolphins defense surrendering the fourth-most receptions (118) and receiving touchdowns (nine) to his position in 2023. Miami's unit has also let in the ninth-most fantasy points per game from the slot (13.9), per Razzball. Rice's playing time appears to have stabilized around a 60% clip over the past two weeks and his rest-of-season outlook bolstered when K.C. opted to not add wideout help at Tuesday's trade deadline. But until the second-rounder runs an advanced assortment of routes, Rice will remain stuck as a low-ceiling, if high-floor WR3/flex.
